Abdirahman’s marathon record earns him USATF Athlete of the Week honors

11/6/2019

INDIANAPOLIS -- Abdi Abdirahman (Tucson, Arizona) set a masters men’s marathon record to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.

Abdirahman, a 42-year-old four-time U.S Olympian and three-time World Championships competitor at 10,000 meters, ran 2:11:34 at the TCS New York City Marathon to break the American men’s masters record and finish ninth overall. Bernard Lagat set the pending masters AR of 2:12:10 earlier this year in Australia, while Meb Keflezighi holds the ratified mark at 2:12:20 from 2016. It was Abdirahman’s eighth NYC marathon, and his sixth top-10 finish at the prestigious race.

Full results are here.
