IAAF World Relays Press Conference - Allyson Felix

On her first IAAF World Relays Bahamas

“I’m really excited to be here and participating this year. I’m running the 4x100m and the 4x200m. I’m really focusing this year on the 400m and 200m.”

On why she enjoys running relays

“The relays are so much fun because track is an individual sport and we focus on ourselves. It’s so much fun to be a part of a team and come with my teammates and just have fun. It’s not a lot of pressure. You get to come together and have one goal.”

On if she could choose only one medal of her eight global medals

“[I would pick] the world record 4x100m [in London]. [The world record] was unexpected and such a special moment. Something I’ll never forget.”

On if she gets to choose what relay leg she runs

“I think, ultimately, it’s up to the coaches. Through the year, there are legs that suit runners better. we all run so much. there’s a pretty good idea of where you’re going to be.” [Where are you going to be tomorrow?] “Where I typically am.” (laughter)

On if she knew she was the most successful female medalist in the history of track & field

“I didn’t know that. It makes me feel good. I never really focus on stats or keeping track, here and there, of what happens. I’m always in the moment and focus on what’s in front of me. But it’s nice to look back and see what I’ve done, but I have more work to do.”
