Casimir Loxsom sets American indoor record in 600 meters

ALBUQUERQUE -- World junior silver medalist and 2014 USATF runner-up in the 800 meters, Casimir Loxsom started 2015 on a high note, setting an American record in the men’s indoor 600 meters Saturday at the University of New Mexico Lobo Open.

Breaking the previous record of 1:15.61 set by Erik Sowinski in 2013, Loxsom turned in a time of 1:15.58 in his first race of the season. It was a record that almost didn’t happen, as Loxsom was convinced to run the 600m by multi-time NCAA Champion in the decathlon, Curtis Beach.
