Youth champion Daloria Boone named USATF Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- Multi-time national champion Daloria Boone wins USATF Athlete of the Week honors after her dominating performance at the USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships March 13-15 in Landover, Maryland.
 
Boone (Milledgeville, Georgia) won four events and set two records over the weekend. She took the top spot in the 15-16 girls long jump with a record 5.77m/18-11.25 on Saturday, beating the previous mark set last year by 16 inches. 
 
On Sunday, she went on to win the 15-16 girls 55m with a record time of 7.18, and she also won the 200m in 25.61 and the 400m in 58.53.
 
Boone was a returning champion to this year's event, repeating her 2014 streak that included first place finishes in the 13-14 girls 200m, 55m and long jump.
 
Other top performances from the weekend include:
 
  • Kendall Williams (Marietta, Georgia), a sophomore at the University of Georgia, set two collegiate records and won her third career NCAA title at the Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, March 14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
  • Ben True (North Yarmouth, Maine) won his third consecutive title at the USATF 15k Championships with his time of 44:03 on Saturday, March 14.
  • Jonah Gorevic (Rye, New York) took the top spots and set new records in both the 11-12 boys 1500m and 3000m with his times of 4:36.23 and 9:44.97 on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 respectively at the USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships.​
 
Now in its 14th year, USATF’s Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on www.usatf.org. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
